about leslie
Leslie Locklear, a member of the Lumbee and Waccamaw Siouan tribes, hails from Hoke County, NC. Leslie is a May 2013 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Leslie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In July of 2014, Leslie completed her Master's of Education in School Counseling. In December of 2017 Leslie completed her doctoral degree in Educational Studies and Cultural Foundations at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Leslie is currently employed at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke as the Program Assistant for the F.A.T.E and Project ACCESS programs.
As a student and educator Leslie's passions include culturally relevant curriculum, working with Native American youth councils, college and career counseling and supporting educators in the classroom.
